At Pigari Beauty Spa, we offer two distinct pedicure services: our Advanced Pedicure and our Medical Pedicure. They are not the same thing, and understanding what each one does and when you need which is something we take seriously. This post is our honest attempt to explain both because we think you deserve to know exactly what you are booking and why.
The Advanced Pedicure: more than just polish
Our Advanced Pedicure is a premium spa service. It goes significantly further than a standard pedicure, but it is not a medical treatment. Think of it as attentive, skilled, whole-foot care delivered with a level of knowledge and observation that most pedicures simply do not include.
When you come in for an Advanced Pedicure, we are looking at the full picture: every nail, the skin between the toes, the heels, the overall condition of the foot. We have the knowledge to look closely and recognize when something is not quite right. That might mean noticing early signs of a possible fungal infection, observing that the nail plate lacks hydration, or identifying a nail shape that could become a problem down the road. When we see those things, we name them, explain what we are seeing, and recommend that you follow up with a doctor if the situation calls for it.
What we do during an Advanced Pedicure includes correcting the cut and shape of the nails to reduce the risk of future ingrowth, addressing thickened nails more carefully than a regular pedicure would, working through calluses that have built up over time, and hydrating and caring for the skin of the entire foot.
What an Advanced Pedicure does not include is treating pain, infection, or any nail or foot condition that requires medical intervention. If a toe is hurting, that is a signal that something deeper may be going on, and that is a conversation for our Medical Pedicure, or in some cases, for a physician.
The Medical Pedicure: when the foot needs more
Our Medical Pedicure exists for situations where the foot or nail requires a higher level of clinical attention. This is still a spa service, not a medical procedure performed by a physician, but it is carried out with techniques and training that go beyond what an Advanced Pedicure covers.
During a Medical Pedicure, we focus on the specific issue while also caring for the rest of the foot. So if you come in with a nail that has been growing incorrectly, we assess it, correct the shape, and work to address what is causing the problem, while also looking after every other nail and the overall condition of your feet. We are never treating just one toe in isolation.
This is the service for clients dealing with significantly thickened nails, more stubborn calluses, nails that are starting to show signs of concern, or feet that have been struggling for a while. It is thorough, it is careful, and it is designed to make a real difference rather than just manage the surface.
When neither service is the right starting point
There are situations where we will recommend you see a doctor before booking with us at all. We say this not to turn anyone away, but because being honest about it is part of how we do things.
If any of the following apply to you, please see a physician first:
- An ingrown nail with swelling, redness, warmth, or discharge. This level of infection needs medical assessment. In some cases, a partial nail avulsion under local anesthetic is required, and that is a procedure that belongs in a medical setting. Come and see us once that has been treated.
- Open wounds or sores on the soles of the feet. Especially if you have diabetes or any condition affecting circulation. A wound on the foot is not something to work around in a spa setting.
- Unexplained pain when walking. If every step hurts and you do not know why, a pedicure is not going to give you the answer. A doctor will.
- Lesions, growths, or unusual spots you have not had looked at. Get them assessed medically before anyone works on your feet.
We have had clients arrive who genuinely needed antibiotics or a medical procedure, not a pedicure appointment. Sometimes people come in hoping the more affordable option will resolve something that has moved beyond that point. We understand the instinct, but our job is to take care of you properly, and sometimes that means telling you to go somewhere else first.
The honest version of what we do
We are not physicians. We are skilled, trained professionals who care about feet in a way that goes well beyond aesthetics. We know what healthy nails and skin look like, and we know what warrants a second look. When we flag something, it is because we genuinely noticed it and think it matters.
Our Advanced Pedicure is for clients who want exceptional care and a knowledgeable eye on their foot health, without any active medical concerns. Our Medical Pedicure is for clients whose feet need more focused attention and skilled correction.
Both services share one thing: we look at the whole foot, every time.
